Monsters

In Final Fantasy XII, monsters are able to think and this new feature has never been done in any other Final Fantasy games. Not just lurking around minding their business picking up gil to give to you when you kill them but they are able to trap the player in different ways. Be sure to check on the navigation map for monsters because they can emerge suddenly and without warning like an ambush.
Monsters can plan ambushes, support other monsters if they see the party fighting against them like the little bastards they are. They can flee and recover, consider obstacles, etc. Not only can monsters think, they can detect the party by sight, sound, or odor. Although monsters can think, detecting the party is not new to the series. Monsters in Final Fantasy XI detect players in the same manner.
There are a couple of pictures of the few new monsters that we are going to be seeing in the game. They seem to be making more interesting monsters as the Final Fantasy series continues. We might see these three monsters as well has old ones we have seen in the older ones.
